I trying out the dvdriver trial version using JVC GR-D53 camcorder and is constrainted to a maximum resolution of 320x240 although I've set it to 640x480. Will the full version solve this problem?

You need to set both the DVdriver size and the camera size to 640x480 for that to work. You can test by unloading and reloading the video device if the time limit runs out in the DVdriver trial version.
