Regarding the Network TrackerCam --I have a cable modem setup, I guess I can just plug into ethernet hub with it, it will ask for an IP address from the DHCP server of the cable modem. Is this all that is needed or do we have to open a port in the cable modem for this thing?

Yes, the Network TrackerCam will use DHCP to get an IP number. It uses port 80 and has a built in web server. If the cable modem has a router, then you would have to open up port 80 and forward it to the Network TrackerCam.
