Is the PowerPod-IR an expansion of the PowerPod?

Is PowerPod-IR an expansion of PowerPod? In other words, if I buy PowerPod-IR, does it have same features as PowerPod and in addition has IR capability that I may enable when I need it and otherwise use PowerPod-IR as PowerPod? If for some reason PowerPod does not satisfy my needs, what is your return policy?
