Questions Relating to PowerPod

Will the PowerPod be able to optically zoom my Sony DCR-TRV140?

Detailed Question:

I have a sony camcorder that doesn't have LANC capabilities but it has firewire capabilities. Will the optical zoom work using the regular PowerPod? Like I said, my particular model (DCR-TRV140) doesn't have LANC (I don't think).
