Do I need all the accessories included in the Retail TrackerPod?

I'm interested in purchasing the non-retail TrackerPod package, but was concerned if I would need the extra accessories that the retail version includes. From the retail TrackerPod's photo, what is the purpose of the disc below the tripod mount? Also, is the tripod mount needed to mount the TrackerPod to any camera tripod?

Answer:

The disc is used to mount the type of camera that does not have the screw hole underneath, or a flat base camera. You can place a flat base camera on top of the disc and secure with a pair of rubbber bands to secure the position. The tripod mount is use to mount the camera onto the camera tripod or to mount on the ceiling or wall.
