Can I specify the exact amount of optical zoom I would like?

Detailed Question:

In using a camcorder as a webcam, can I type in the exact zoom magnification into DVdriver rather than pressing buttons to just increase or decrease the zoom?

Answer:

While this is a good idea, we can't know know the exact zoom value. The camera doesn't tell us. All we can do from software is activate the camcorder's zoom buttons. There is no feedback back to the software from the camera.
